Dayna was born to Mrs. Shirley Threatt and Mr. Mack Shields, Jr. on March 3, 1984 in New Haven, Connecticut.
She was a beloved resident of West Haven, Stratford and most recently New Haven where she purchased a home with her husband whom she married on June 11, 2022.
Dayna worked at Yale-New Haven Hospital for 20 years. As a surgical technician, she loved her job because, together with her colleagues and doctors, it gave her the opportunity to improve people’s lives.
Dayna was good at anything she thought of. She loved Do It Yourself projects and thrived on creating her own arts and crafts. Dayna was also a foodie. She loved to eat and cook. If Dayna felt that a dish she was eating was too expensive, she would go home and learn how to make it and her version was always better than the restaurant version and much cheaper.
Dayna was a great traveler and wanted to see the world. Dayna enjoyed taking trips with her husband and ladies. Whenever she had the chance, she rode, stole, or rode her motorcycle to another destination. Dayna loved riding motorcycles and was a member of the Presidents Motorcycle Club. Dayna was also part of “Da Clique” who are his sisters from the motorcycle club (Angela Corbett, Denise Polite and the late Niki Foust). This quartet of ladies is inseparable.
Dayna also enjoyed dancing, singing, and taking lots of photos and videos. Dayna had an infectious personality and was a genuine person. She left a positive impression on everyone who had the chance to meet her.
Dayna transitioned on October 27, 2022.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband, Jem Howard; brothers, Reshawn Murry and Kenyan Smith; uncles, Leroy, Roy, John Lee and Bobby; aunt, Barbara, Joyce and Robin; and a host of other family, friends and colleagues too numerous to name personally. Dayna wants everyone who spent time with her during her fight to know that she appreciated everything you did for her. She thanks you for taking the time to spend time with her, she thanks you for all the gifts you sent and gave her. She really loved you all.
