Fall has arrived and the New Castle-Henry County Public Library has many spooky events planned to entertain your family throughout October.
In the TeenScape, there will be an Anime Club on October 3. A screening of “Sailor Moon” will begin at 6 p.m. This is open to students in grades 6-12. Snacks will be provided.
Alphabet story time
Alphabet Storytime will take place every Tuesday in October at 10 a.m.
Alphabet Storytime is a chance for preschoolers to explore the shapes and sounds of letters through picture books, finger plays, songs, and crafts.
Children will be introduced to one or two letters at each story hour. Handouts with ideas on how you can reinforce what the children have learned at story time will also be distributed.
Teen Tuesdays are held from 4-5 p.m. every Tuesday in October. To participate, you must be in grades 6-12.
On October 4, there will be an introduction to Dungeons and Dragons.
On October 11, participants will be able to play the mystery game Clue.
On October 18, teens can bake and eat pumpkin cupcakes.
On October 25, teens can make neon signs using el-wire.
Snacks will be offered to all Teen Tuesdays.
Toddler story time
Every Thursday, Tiny Tot Storytime will take place at 10 a.m. in the library auditorium. Attendees will hear stories, sing songs, recite finger plays, make crafts and do other fun activities based on the day’s theme.
Rose Town Book Club
On October 6, the Rose City Book Club will discuss practical magic by Alice Hoffman at 6 p.m. at the Primo in New Castle.
Fridays of the first chapter
Every Friday in October will be Chapter One Fridays.
You can go to the library’s YouTube channel to listen to the reading of the first chapter of The house across the lake by Riley Sager Hollow House by Krystal Sutherland, and The island of Doctor Moreau by HG Wells.
On October 7 and 21, the Minecraft Club will meet in the Computer Training Lab at 4 p.m. Children aged 10 to 18 can participate.
Magical History Tour
On October 13, Gene Ingram will present the history of Maxwell Chrysler at 6 p.m. in the NCHCPL auditorium for the Henry County Bicentennial Series: Magical History Tours.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 14, there will be several STEAM stations in the storytime room for your exploration.
This month’s STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) stations will be above the bones.
Selling books with friends
The Friends of the Library will be hosting a book sale on October 15 from noon to 4 p.m. Available books are located in the Upper Level Friends Bookstore, Lower Level Friends Bookstore, and Library Basement.
Read with Link!
On October 24, you can come and read with Link (AKA Luther), a trained therapy dog, at the children’s service starting at 4 p.m.
Always YA: Adult Book Club
Always YA Adult Book Club Will Discuss Hollow House by Krystal Sutherland at Applebee’s in New Castle on October 25 at 6 p.m.
Horror Trivia Night
On October 27, fans of horror films and books can test their knowledge during a Horror Trivia Night at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium.
There will be two screenings of “Goosebumps 2” on October 29 in the auditorium. The first screening will start at 10 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m.
