Tallulah Academy prepares for a stretch race by routing Discovery Christian

Tallulah Academy prepared for two tough and important matches by rolling through an opponent who offered little resistance.
Seven different players scored a touchdown as Tallulah Academy beat hapless Discovery Christian 54-14 on Friday night.
The Trojans (6-1) have racked up 454 rushing yards and 516 total rushing yards in just 33 plays. They average 18.2 yards per rush attempt.
No player finished with more than 100 yards rushing, although six of the eight who had carry scored a touchdown.
Arnett Sevier led the Trojans with 87 yards on just two carries, including a 31-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Brayson Morson, Cole Boyte, Wyatt Bedgood, Mac Cagnolaetti and Dee Morgan also scored rushing touchdowns. Morgan also threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Hayes Hopkins.
Hopkins finished with 103 total yards – 59 rushing and 44 receiving. Boyte had the most carries, with eight, for 75 yards.
Stewart Grady had an interception for the Tallulah defense, which recorded three sacks and allowed minus-14 rushing yards. Discovery Christian’s two touchdowns came on a pair of long passes after the game got way out of control. Tallulah led 32-0 at the end of the first quarter and 48-6 at halftime.
Discovery Christian (1-7) scored a total of 26 points this season and lost its seventh straight game. His only win was a forfeit against Hillcrest Christian in the season opener.
Tallulah, meanwhile, is heading to the MAIS class 2A playoffs. He won his third straight game and will play at Newton Academy (8-0) on October 14 in a district leaders clash.
After that, the Trojans will wrap up the regular season at home on Oct. 21 against Porter’s Chapel in a win-win showdown for the 3-2A District Championship. Both teams are 1-0 in district play.
