PARKERSBURG — West Virginia Central Federal Credit Union presented a check for $200,000 to Discovery World on Market on Tuesday and reiterated its partnership with the new museum going forward.

“It means that we are very happy to work with the various companies on the initiative of the children’s museum”, said Tres Ross, executive director of the Ross Foundation and president of Discovery World on Market. “We think it’s great to have the West Virginia Central Federal Credit Union as a partner to work with us on select children’s programs over the next 10 years.”

Michael Tucker, president and CEO of West Virginia Central, said they hope to partner with the museum for the long term.

“Over the next 10 years we will be sponsoring many events that will take place, four per year over this 10 year period,” he said. “We see the Discovery Museum as an important attraction for this region.

“It was something that we were all passionate about. We see it as having a great future for the future.

Tucker said their events will be both “educational and fun” for local children and those who come to see the museum.

Discovery World on Market is set to open in late fall with a grand opening celebration for the community.

Ross said the museum will impact downtown development and STEAM initiatives for local science, technology, engineering, art and math students.

“We want to further expand these opportunities,” said Ross.
